MONEY TRAIL RAISES £1,500
25 March 2017

Mothering Sunday dawned breezy and bright as the ESC Money Round The Mill Pond team, suitably clad in Comic Relief red T-shirts, hit the ground running!

Junior Captains Grace Summers and James Taylor, aided by Hugo Warwick, set to and laid a tape line along the length of the Mill Pond promenade between ESC and Slipper Club.

June and Sarah Lineham took the first shift at the Slipper end, Jane Mellor and Sue Slight set up at the ESC start line while Tom Slight, wife Penny and sons Harry and George started putting down the money already collected from local schools, shops and pubs. From then on it grew and grew, with all the many walkers and families out on such a lovely day adding their loose change to the Trail.

The afternoon shift – Gillian Carter and daughters plus mum and dad – carried on the good work, with Vicky Brindley and family from Slipper working at their end.

The hardest task was collecting up the coins!  Backbreaking work, but helped by the many, while miraculously the sun still shone. Two mornings of counting revealed a final total – £1,500.45.

Brilliant!
