HISTORY OF EMSWORTH OYSTER DVDs
26 April 2015

Emsworth Museum has donated to the Club two films on DVD covering the history of the Emsworth oyster trade.

The main film, which runs for some 35 minutes, was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and made by Millstream Productions of Emsworth. It is a wonderful production featuring many of the local fishermen and characters around the area. It is beautifully filmed and accompanied by some lovely music and is narrated by Linda Newell, the Curator of Emsworth Museum, who sadly died recently. This film is a tribute to her extensive knowledge of Emsworth.

The second, shorter film, also by Millstream Productions, was made by the pupils of St James's Primary School, and  is a delightful insight into what life was like in Emsworth during the demise of the oyster trade in the early 20th century.

I can thoroughly recommend both films.

The DVDs can be loaned free of charge to members of the Club by contacting the secretaries.
