Preloved rope finds new life

We all know the saying 'money for old rope'. In the future it might be 'bags from old rope'. With a view to finding a new purpose for things we may throw away at the club, we have teamed up with Brighton based weaver Georgia Borrett-Lynch. Georgia takes unwanted or damaged artificial rope and upcycles it, weaving it into beautiful bags. So instead of adding to the club's general waste, our unwanted rope becomes a much needed resource for a talented weaver.

Georgina has already visited us to pick up a collection of rope. We know many of you may well have damaged rope to throw away and we would encourage you to consider passing it on to Georgia. To make this easy for members we have placed a bucket (see photo) for any unwanted rope on the floor to the right side of the door in the sail store.

Georgia uses any artificial rope, although the thinner the better, preferably over a metre in length. We hope that at some point in the future Georgia might display some of her work at the club, but for now we can share the link to her website so you can see for yourself what she creates.
