The Commodore's Christmas Message

Dear Member

Well, no-one can say that 2020 hasn't been a year to remember. This time a year ago, who would have imagined that we would be wearing face masks, using a whole new language (social distancing, furlough, bubbles, lockdown, rule of 6, Zoom), living in tiers, not seeing our nearest and dearest, not travelling, not going to pubs, restaurants, friends' houses, parties, church, carol services or indeed any of the normal festive social events that we love. But how amazingly we have all adapted and learnt to live through this dreadful pandemic.

I would like to thank you personally for your incredible patience, stoicism, support and positivity through one of the most difficult years that ESC has experienced and whatever you may be doing, I want to wish you a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year.

A couple of reminders before we all disappear into our Christmas bubbles:

You will have received your renewal email from the office in the last few days - please don't forget to renew your subs for the year to come.

It's gratuity time - this is the time of year that we thank Ollie and his team for their very hard work (and innovativeness) and offer you the chance to give them a gratuity. We can't go to the Club to give it to them in person, so we have set up an event called 'Ollie and Team Gratuities' Click here. Please log in and buy your chosen ticket (£5, £10 or £20, or multiples thereof up to the amount that you want to give). Payment will be by Gocardless, Paypal or bank transfer. This event will be open until 31 January 2021.

I very much look forward to seeing you as soon as we are allowed to meet again. Let's hope that vaccination will allow us all to get back to the Club that we love and to doing the things that we love and miss. Until then, please stay safe and well and my very best wishes,

Jane Mellor
