Winter Training Squads
Published 01:00 on 30 Oct 2021
ESC is excited to announce the revised 21/22 Winter Training Squads, the aim of which is to build upon the skills learnt through this year and expand the junior's knowledge and experience. The squads are aimed at those juniors that are keen racers with at least RYA Level 3, with race experience in club, open or junior race events. All sailors must be self-sufficient on the water especially in the event of a capsize and equipped to cope with the weather conditions.
We are offering both a Saturday and Sunday over 4 weekends for the Feva class. For the Tera, Laser/Aero and Optimist classes there will be ONE day of Coached Racing on a Sunday. Coached racing means that an experienced Race Coach will provide a brief for the sailors before the 2 -3 races, highlighting the likely successful strategies for the day. During the race, the Coach will provide input to the racers on the course as they go along, including those towards the back of the fleet. After the races, the Coach will highlight the key lessons from each race, and provide feedback to each sailor. The total time commitment will be roughly 6 hour per day, and there will be roughly one Coach per 6 boats.
We are offering separate training for the Tera, Feva, Laser/Aero and Optimist classes dependent on a minimum number of boats per class taking part.
