Want to go sailing? If yes, well read on...
At a time when we're not allowed on the water and are confined at home, Emsworth Sailing Club has joined with the RYA and other affiliated clubs to offer the new (to us) format of eSailing.
What's happening?
We're going to kick this off by running some ESC Club races - there is a limit of 20 boats per race, so not everyone will get in, but all will have a chance to race in the coming weeks. We'll schedule other races/series depending on demand. Next race is 12.00 noon Sunday 5th April.
What should I do?
a) Download or log on to www.virtualregatta.com and create a free account, (use app or use through a browser) - there's no need to spend any money
b) Watch some races, take part in some races, learn how to use it and compete against others all around the world, there's always plenty going on, prepare yourself for Emsworth races... -
c) Join Zoom at 12.00noon Sunday 5th April for a briefing and eRacing!
Simon Langford will be the race officer and here are the Zoom meeting details

Sailing Instructions
Firstly, login as before. Next, when you're through into the Main Menu screen, you'll see a 'Custom Race' button on the left. Click that button.
You then get the option to 'Create' or 'Join' (at the top of the screen). Click 'Join', then the green button, and input the access code that you will be provided with. There's a maximum of 20 people racing at one time.
The next menu screen enables you to select how much help you would like when racing, ignore purchasing credits by clicking outside the pop up, each player is responsible for selecting their own race 'helps' whilst racing. Each of the 'race helps' with a 'green 1' at the bottom of them will cost players one credit. Free accounts will be given some credits once they complete the sailing school training, to get more credits you must complete races and open the 'barrel' you win at the end of each race. These will appear at the bottom of the home screen. Alternatively you can add more by selecting the shopping trolley in the top right of the screen if required. Once you've done that, you're in and playing the game!
It's a fantastic way to stay in touch with your sailing friends and continue racing and practicing your tactics. Virtual Regatta (eSailing) Inshore is aimed at everyone from expert sailors to newbies and can bring the excitement of small sailboat racing to your home. It's easy to use and also has a training feature so people can easily learn how to use the game or even learn the basics of sailing.
Using your computer, phone or tablet, you can take part in an offshore or inshore race or series with friends and rivals.
