Can ESC be RYA Club of the Year?

Every year the RYA and Y&Y celebrate the outstanding work that happens in sailing clubs through their 'Club of the Year' awards. With five different award categories, it was the one on 'sustainability' that caught the attention of the 'ESC green team'. Having launched our ambitious environmental plan earlier this year we felt we should throw our hat in the ring! As part of our application, Mark Holliday produced a wonderful film

Locke Trophy and other sailing news

Club Racing Very few people stayed dry on Saturday in the one and only Locke Trophy that we've been able to stage this year. Three short, sharp races around inflatable marks at Sweare Deep, under the watchful gaze of Bill Tucker and team, as well as a full complement of safety boats. The NE wind proved gusty and caught many out, including one dismasting. Congratulations to all that took part, and

    Estates Update

Estates Update The pool booking system is working well and the pool is being well used. Since opening on 14/8 there have been 880 lanes booked to swim. Thank you for your patience with the rather slow booking system! Great news - the changing rooms are now open. The numbers for each bay are hanging on the noticeboard in both changing rooms - please take a number and change in the corresponding

    House Update

With Autumn commencing on the 22nd of September, I'm anxious to get the remainder of the Club House open prior to the advent of inclement weather. The House Committee is committed to completing the task of getting the whole Club safely and securely behind the double glazing shortly after the Autumnal Equinox. In broad terms this is a two-phase operation. Phase one: opening the "Snug Bar" by 17th September, followed by phase two: opening

    Trafalgar Night Saturday 24 October

Some 250 years ago on 21 October 1805 the Royal Navy fought against the combined fleets of the French and Spanish Navies. The encounter took place in the south west of Spain near Cape Trafalgar. In a particularly fierce battle, 27 British ships of the line fought 33 French and Spanish of the line and won a decisive victory. In achieving this, 458 sailors and marines of the British Fleet were killed and 1208 were
