Some easing of lockdown activities on the water

With so many of us out on the water it was inevitable and brilliant to get some stories from the water, as well as lots of pictures! Thanks to Jerry White for the action packed on-the-water pictures and to Celia Lynch for this picture of a group of ESC members on a kayak trip to Thorney Island last weekend, demonstrating social distancing! Also, thanks for the note that is reproduced underneath from Maggie

    Two Harbour Training

Two Harbour Training Emsworth Sailing Club is excited to announce plans to extend the Two Harbour training: it will now include RS Feva, RS Aero and Laser coaching as well as RS Tera! The training was set up two years ago to provide an opportunity for young sailors to build on the skills they have learnt through the RYA levels and gain confidence to race away from home. The coaching is delivered by

Landing on Fowley Island - treat wildlife with respect!

This is a message from the Harbour Conservancy: Our breeding birds need our help and understanding! Please avoid landing on or paddling close to islands and spits that support nesting birds, such as Fowley, Pilsey, Stakes and Ella Nore. There are nesting terns, waders and gulls in a number of places around the Harbour. They may have taken advantage of the reduction in human activity due to the current restrictions to

Yeah we are open! Also some important information for the Bank Holiday.

The Club is open! Not yet fully but open, and so far so good. I have missed it terribly as I'm sure you have and it was great to be back in the office briefly last week. Many thanks to Ollie, Eloise and the children for taking care of the clubhouse for us over the last few months - I'm sure they are delighted to see us all again!? Firstly, I would like

    ESC proposes new racing courses

We've been working with ESSC on some adjustments to the standard courses that we run, correcting errors and improving existing courses so that we have some for all wind directions. We've also revitalised the shorter courses... One of the main intentions was to solve 'Echo' as a first mark where there's many boats arriving at the same time. Unlike many of the marks we sail around, we can use Echo as a port-

    Estates activities - line painting

A couple of weeks ago few of the Estates working group cracked open the paint pots and spruced up the lines in the Club car park. Here follows a note from Harry Thuillier I thought would make you chuckle. No volunteers were harmed during this gathering. They maintained their distance, did their daily exercise and we now have bright shiny lines all over the car park. Very many thanks to

ESC success at the Eric Twiname eSailing Championships 2020

Over the weekend the Eric Twiname eSailing Championships were held and over 100 sailors and 200 junior sailors turned up to race on the virtual seas of Portsmouth. ESC was very well placed in the results with Henry Chandler winning the RS Aero Virtual Champs B and presumably securing a place in the RYA Spring Class Champs in June. Tommy Millard came second in the show-down final of the Eric Twiname

Virtual walk on the wild side

Living north of the Downs, I am currently denied even a view of Chichester Harbour. However this absence from water has provided me with time to return to my own roots in natural resource management and to write about the beasts, mini and not so mini, of our amazing harbour. I still recall the first time I saw Chichester Harbour having moved to the area when I started working for the World Wildlife
