We are deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and would like to extend our most heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family at this time of national mourning. In this period of national mourning, the events that have taken place, or are due to take place, are doing so in a low-key manner and in line with the guidelines that similar organisations are following. All events due to

Have fun but please be safe!
It was great to see so many happy faces at COW Week last week and so much fun being had both on and off the water, which is ultimately what it's all about. That said, we did spot some potentially very dangerous behaviours that we need to bring to the attention of all parents and guardians of our Juniors, ahead of what will be a long hot summer of fun at the Club.

Pool cover mayhem makes for very grumpy pool volunteers!
Yet again the pool cover has been messed up by someone closing it incorrectly - this is the 6th time this year. Each time this happens, the pool volunteers have to spend up to half an hour sorting it out often at 8pm at night when the pool is locked up. When this happens it increases the risk of damaging the cover which would cost us well over £1,000 to replace. The pool

Smiling at Cowes 2022
Smile, our 21-foot Hunter Formula One, was bought to give our youngsters a taste of keel-boat racing and this year we decided to enter Cowes Week. Our Airbnb was adequate but beds were over-subscribed so blow-up beds were squidged into any gaps! Helming Smile was shared between Jack Holliday and Pippa White, with Pippa unfortunately getting the helm both days (Jack was working) when it was blowing 30 knots. Considering she'd

COW Week report
Wow, what a wonderful sunny week we had! Over 100 Juniors joined us for our traditional Children On the Water Week of fun on and off the water. The sun shone and the wind blew, and there was plenty of time for sailing. Special thanks to Alex Healey and our older Juniors who helmed Club boats to provide the younger children with a great positive experience of sailing, which for some was their

Linking up with the Final Straw Foundation and Portsmouth University
Last week the Club assisted the Final Straw Foundation to attach some microplastic samples to a buoy in the harbour. These samples are there to form part of a study with Portsmouth University to analyse what grows on the film that covers microplastic in our seas. This parcel of microplastics has been planted in an area that swimmers, paddleboarders and sailors frequent so that we can see any potential chemicals and pathogens that

Emsworth represented at the Classic Channel regatta
In 2019, Polar Bear, (owned by Douglas Peniston) had a really enjoyable experience at the Classic Channel Regatta, and this year, Polar Bear was joined by Morning Bird (owned by the Poyner family) for the 2022 Classic Channel Regatta. Due to the wind conditions, the event ran fewer races than in 2019. The main event (the cross-channel race) was delayed, and the start line was relocated to a virtual start line mid
