Lymington River Scow buoyancy testing
Roger Bleasby has arranged for Liz Sagues to visit ESC on the morning of Tuesday 23 August to carry out buoyancy tests on Lymington River Scows. Liz, from DQSC, is appointed by the Class Association to carry out these tests in the Chichester Harbour area. The test is by air pressure and only takes a few minutes. Nobody gets wet. Linking up with the Final Straw Foundation and Portsmouth University
Last week the Club assisted the Final Straw Foundation to attach some microplastic samples to a buoy in the harbour. These samples are there to form part of a study with Portsmouth University to analyse what grows on the film that covers microplastic in our seas. Emsworth represented at the Classic Channel regatta
In 2019, Polar Bear, (owned by Douglas Peniston) had a really enjoyable experience at the Classic Channel Regatta, and this year, Polar Bear was joined by Morning Bird (owned by the Poyner family) for the 2022 Classic Channel Regatta. Blake Fund news
The Blake Fund for Young Sailors provides financial and other support for our young sailors. This fund was established by the Club in 2001 following the tragic death of Peter Blake, the celebrated New Zealand yachtsman whose home had been in Emsworth for more than 30 years. ESC wins the Folly trophy
In rather challenging conditions last weekend (18-19 June), team ESC won a significant victory over ESSC to secure the Folly trophy. Saturday saw some very fast sailing with speeds of over 12 kts achieved by some boats as they rounded Cowes. Luke South reports from the RS 300 Open at Whitefriars SC
The weekend of 11/12 June saw the brave (?) Emsworth Sailing Club RS 300's go into battle on the pond of Whitefriars (near Swindon) with a huge victory for warrior Dave Acres and the worrier Luke South returning bloodied, battered but alive! The Yoke trophy has been retained by ESC!
Sunshine and predominantly easterly winds made for some great sailing for this year's Yoke. 30 boats participated with all but one boat finishing - an awesome turnout. Honours for overall individual boat went to Mike Austin of ESSC on Luna but he was closely followed by 4 ESC boats. 2022 Rallies We have a number of rallies planned for 2022 and look forward to welcoming both our regular cruisers and new cruisers. 2 & 3 July we are returning to Littlehampton.
