Cruisers

710431 orig

We have an active cruising sailing section at ESC both on and off the water, and are always keen to see new cruisers join us.

We have a variety of opportunities on the water, cruising both locally and further afield, whatever experience you have. We have an interesting programme of cruising in company, rallies, and racing, as well as formal suppers and informal get togethers.

We encourage new and old friends alike and we all have a great time. Non cruiser members are always welcome to join us both on and off the water.

We have two important races per year, both against ESSC. Whilst we need the 'keen' and 'accomplished' racers, as we are, of course, always aiming to win, we welcome anyone to come along and take part.

The Yoke Trophy which is to Beaulieu this year: The Emsworth Yoke is awarded to the winning team and The Howard Cruising Trophy to the first ESC boat to finish.

The Folly Trophy to Yarmouth on day one and round IoW or back up the Solent on day 2: The Folly Trophy is awarded to the winning team and The King Scott Trophy to the first ESC boat to finish.

This year we are adding an additional "fun" race to celebrate the Kings coronation. This will be a race to Cowes with a bottle of fizz for the winning boat from each club, and supper at the Folly Inn.

The Volana Casket is awarded for the best Cruiser story/log, usually from the past year. The winner gives a presentation at the Fitting Out Supper, which is in March this year.

We hold several rallies over the sailing season and try to explore new places each year as well as sailing to our long-term favourite spots. For 2023 we have added a few mid-week rallies and are invited to join ESSC on a rally to Cherbourg.

We also hold several socials throughout the year. We have a few cruiser led suppers, but also encourage cruisers to come together at the general club events. Last year we had a couple of cruiser drinks and nibbles evenings which were well attended and we will be continuing with these in 2023.

For all Cruiser events in 2023 follow this link to the Club calendar.

We welcome any cruising sailor, whatever your experience, to join in with any of the events.

If you want to know more please mail Sian Browne at cruisers@emsworthsc.org.uk.
