Rowing

Rowing in the Club's Celtic Longboat, Escapde, provides another way for ESC members to get onto the water. Escapade is a 4-oared, coastal rowing craft, crewed by 4 rowers, a cox and, where necessary to enable crew rotation in the boat, a passenger. The Club took delivery of Escapade in March and is steadily developing a programme of routine 'outings' from the Club and, in time, events within the Harbour and wider afield. Rowing is available to all and may be undertaken as a leisurely, social pursuit or as a form of more vigorous exercise - both will be available to those that wish.

To start rowing at ESC, sign up for a Taster Session via the bookings page. This will provide you with the basics of rowing safely and, subsequently, give you access to the booking process for outings around the harbour.

There will be an opportunity for people wishing to be a Cox to have some training via academy trainer, Mike Gilbert book via the bookings page.

Rows will now gradually be added to the online programme and will be bookable. There will be a 'Pin money' charge for each outing (but not for the taster sessions) of £3/rower. This will be automatically debited from your account on completion of each row.

Rowers should wear comfortable clothes appropriate to the weather conditions. Leggings, shorts or outdoor trousers are all appropriate and either wellies or training shoes. Many rowers wear sailing gloves to give hands a bit of additional protection. Please also bring a water bottle and a waterproof bag for any valuables.

For those wishing a bit more information, a Rowing Guide is attached below (Rowing Guide to follow).
