Laying up supper
Guest speaker, Tom Culiffe, will be with us, fresh from the launch of his sailing thriller Hurricane Force. In an entertaining look at the development of navigational electronics, his yarns take us from the 1970s when he found Barbados after 42 days at sea with his grandpa's pocket watch and a sextant, but no chart, to the latest chart plotters. These, he confesses, can sometimes lead him astray.
