Emsworth Sailing Club is run by its members for its members
We offer a hugely successful sailing and racing programme that caters for all age groups and abilities, but all of these events need members to volunteer to help run them. Signing up for a sailing duty shouldn't be seen as a chore but more as a way of helping the Club to continue to run its on-water programme. Volunteering is also a brilliant way of meeting other members.
All Club members can volunteer for a sailing duty but those who participate in the ESC sailing programme are expected to volunteer. Members who have a boat stored in a Club billet (in the Mountbatten Dinghy Park or on the terrace/Oppie rack) are required by the Byelaws to do at least 2 sailing duties per billet per year.
There are many sailing duty roles on offer including Race Officer, Assistant Race Officer, RIB/Commando cox, RIB/Commando crew, Escort Cox/Crew, tallies, beachmaster, Launch Captain and results. To learn more about the roles please click here.
Read our FAQs here.
To volunteer for a role, log into the Members' area, then follow this link https://www.emsworthsc.org.uk/roster, look for the un-rostered duties and click on the big blue volunteer button.
Duty Swaps: Once you have volunteered for a duty, you are responsible for ensuring that that duty is covered. So if your circumstances change and you need to swap your duty, please follow these steps.
Race Officer, RIB/Commando/Escort Cox duties require training, and only members who are tagged as qualified can volunteer. If you are qualified to do one of these roles but have not been tagged, please contact us by email at email@example.com.
The Club also offers;
-training to members who want to become a Race Officer or to qualify as a PB2 Rib helm. Information on powerboat training can be found here: https://www.emsworthsc.org.uk/sailing/powerboat-training
-Race Officer and powerboat refresher sessions throughout the year.
