About the club

Our Club is a firmly family-orientated club, the envy of many around the harbour. We are very fortunate, thanks to some astute and prudent acquisitions of past members, to own our car park, a heated outdoor swimming pool, billets for nearly 400 dinghies, large changing rooms, and a beautiful Clubhouse with some of the best views in the harbour. Not forgetting Ollie, Eloise and the team behind the bar and all the hardworking and talented Committee members, past and present.

Start of Official ESC Club Racing!

The first official racing of 2020 was held on the weekend of 11-12 July - we were due to start on Good Friday... It was fabulous to be back on the water and we started with a fleet of 35, all without incident and abiding by the Government guidelines. A perfect F2-3 was a great introduction to Saturday's race, but the direction and speed meant that the double-handers were never really in it - places More »

The House Round Up 13th July 2020

The club house and bar last weekend were much more productive in a number of areas: The use of the wet bar ensured faster through-put of customers, whilst still maintaining social distancing. A warm and sunny Friday brought in good numbers of members with the 'deck' providing an ideal venue to enjoy 'Ollie's Fish and Chips'. Again, Saturdays benign weather plus a 1600hrs high water, meant the club remained open from 1200hrs to 2100hrs drawing More »

Swimming Pool Update

We are delighted that the Government announced on Thursday last, that outdoor pools can open from today. This is just to let you know that the Estates Committee is working hard to open the pool as soon as possible, and further updates will follow in the coming days regarding pool opening times, the online booking system, resuscitation courses and COVID-19 safety measures. Thank you for your patience. Jane Mellor Vice More »

Arrangements for racing

Racing for the rest of the season will use the attached Sailing Instructions, which are issued by both Clubs. We may have to update them as restrictions allow, but we'll let you know of any changes. Individual races or regattas may have their own SIs which we'll tell you about. There are no big changes, but we'd point out that these sailing instructions do not replace official Government guidance regarding appropriate social distancing and More »

Hybrid Financial General Meeting proposal

The Covid 19 pandemic and government restrictions forced the postponement of the 2020 Financial General Meeting (Fin GM). The General Committee wishes to hold this meeting but is concerned that continuing restrictions and uncertainty mean that the Club Rules are not sufficiently versatile in enabling General Meetings to take place other than by physical means. Therefore it intends to ballot the membership to seek permission to hold the Fin GM More »
