Junior Captains 2024/25

I have been sailing from an early age and I joined ESC when I was 9. In common with most juniors I started out in the Millpond sailing an Optimist, and progressed through the RYA courses in a Tera. I have participated in many different events at the Club, including COW weeks, junior racing and coaching and various social activities. I have gone through lots of different stages of training and done lots of racing. One of the highlights of my sailing to date was when I finished well up the fleet at the 2021 RS Tera world championships. Last summer I became an RYA dinghy instructor, and I look forward to teaching junior sailors at the club.

As Junior Captain, my focus would be on creating a supportive environment for all junior members. By attending the junior events and activities throughout the season, I will be able to provide a voice for the junior section and be able to offer advice where possible.

I have spent many summers messing about in Chichester Harbour on anything that floats. At times this led to me becoming very familiar with the stench of Emsworth mud as we waded back to the club.

I followed the typical ESC pathway from the millpond into the harbour. Along the way, I have completed most of the RYA courses which helped me to develop my sailing skills. I used my knew-found knowledge of sailing to race at the club and elsewhere, including helping to teach Royal Navy Cadets sailing in Plymouth.

As junior captain, I will be a friendly face at the club who anyone can approach for help. I want to encourage the next generation of ESC sailors and am looking forward to another fantastic ESC junior sailing season.
