Sail training
Emsworth Sailing Club (ESC) is an RYA-recognised training centre. This allows us to provide a range of sailing courses for both juniors and adults, and we can progress sailors from 'novice' to 'competent racer' standards.
Junior training
Juniors follow the RYA Youth Training Scheme which they can start when they are in Year 2 (the school year in which they turn 7) and usually this takes place on the millpond in Optimists. As children progress, they move 'over the wall' onto the harbour where they further develop their skills and may have the opportunity to move into double-handed dinghies.
We are also able to offer many advanced modules such as Start Racing and Sailing with Spinnakers.
We aim to run all courses during school holidays and at weekends.
Adult training
Adult training can also be provided and we offer RYA Sailing Scheme courses as well as more bespoke training to meet members' needs.
Windsurfing
The Club can provide RYA adult and junior beginner windsurfing courses.
Race coaching
As an RYA Pathway Club, ESC provides race coaching to help develop our junior racers.
Sail training at ESC
Our courses are run by friendly, RYA-qualified instructors for ESC members. We aim to keep our courses affordable for everyone, so we will only run courses when demand matches the financial implications of running the course.
From time to time, if space allows, we're happy to offer spaces to non-members (along with an appropriate non-member fee) if this allows us to run a course that otherwise might not have gone ahead.
