Volunteers

Thank you to our unsung heroes

Our Club is entirely dependent on volunteers. While we ask every member to undertake at least two duties each year (or alternative volunteering where onwater duties aren't possible), there is a relatively small group of members who contribute far beyond this.

I would like to give a special shoutout to those individuals. It's worth recognising that not every "duty" directly supports on the water activity or comes with a high profile, but many roles are absolutely critical to the smooth running of the Club. Every hour given by a volunteer is an hour that the Club does not need to pay someone else for.

Firstly, I would like to highlight and thank all members of our Club committees and various working groups. The Sailing, House, Estates and General Committees meet monthly, typically for up to two hours. General Committee members usually attend both the General Committee meeting and a subcommittee meeting each month. Meetings take place both in person and via Teams, and we fully understand that family, work and life commitments mean that not everyone can attend every meeting, but the collective contribution is still significant.

This does not include the additional time given outside of meetings, such as House Committee members supporting Speaker Suppers, and General Committee members meeting prospective new members.

Most importantly, our committees discuss, plan and enable virtually everything that the Club does. You can find a full list of our committee members here.

I would like to thank every one of you for your time, commitment, and continued support of the Club.

Unsung Hero:

Alison Stewart. Alison is a talented local artist with exceptional sewing skills, and she repairs and maintains all of our flags. The time and care Alison gives so generously saves the Club a significant amount of money and helps maximise the lifespan of our flags. Thank you Alison.
