ESC Special General Meeting

At the Special General Meeting (SGM) on Sunday 4 June, the proposed Rule change (Rule 46(a)) was unanimously approved by the voting members. Click here to see the amended Rule.

At the SGM on Sunday 1 October, members will be asked to vote on one motion which is to enact that Rule, meaning that at a time determined by the General Committee, the Club's assets will be distributed by way of a scheme of reconstruction to a company limited by guarantee (CLG), called Emsworth Sailing Club Ltd. The current unincorporated association will then be dissolved.

Becoming a CLG will make ESC more fit for purpose for the 21st century - it will make operational issues for the office and the committees easier, and it will reduce the liability of all members (to £1) for any claims not covered by our insurance cover and our assets.

At the SGM on Sunday 1 October, we will be inviting all eligible Ordinary members to vote on the single motion, whether they are attending the SGM or not. Please make sure that all members who were 18 years and over on 1 January 2023, have a current email address on the Club database.
