Assumed knowledge: This is a non-RYA refresher course for those already holding the RYA Powerboat Level 2: Powerboat Handling award gained in a planing craft.

Candidates must be aged 14 or over to attend this course at ESC

Course content: It aims to remind powerboaters about boat handling and seamanship in planing RIBs. It will focuses on low speed close quarters handling, especially coming alongside and turning in a confined space, as well as man overboard recovery, and collision regulations. It also covers how the ESC RIBs are launched and recovered, as well as where all the necessary kit is stored; and so is a valuable refresher before undertaking a powerboat duty at the club
