RYA Start Racing (A-E)

Having learnt to sail you may wish to start racing at the Club. This course takes you through the fundamentals of getting off the start line and round the course, introducing the basic skills needed to enter your first race or have fun with friends

RYA Start Racing - on the harbour

Boats: Tera or Optimist, own boat required or Club boats available to hire online, on a first come first served basis here

The fundamentals of getting off the start line and round the course

Assumed knowledge: Sailing and knowledge to at least the standard of the Level 2 course (Stage 3 for under 16s)

Course content: All the skills required to start club racing, including how to maximise boat speed and outwit your opponents

Ability after course: Able to take part in club racing in good conditions
