From Optimists to F50's via Cape Horn an evening with Hannah Diamond.

We are very excited that Hannah Diamond, who is currently a sailor for Emirates GBR SailGP Team, will be giving a talk at the Club on her sailing career.

Hannah says "I am relatively local, having grown up in Warsash where I learnt to sail on Optimists. I then went through the junior classes and racing of dinghies until the Olympic Campaign sailing in an Nacra 17 with John Gimson in the build-up to Rio 2016. We narrowly missed out on a spot for Rio, at which point I started racing bigger boats and competed in the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-2018 with Vestas 11th Hour Racing. More recently I have been racing with the Emirates GBR SailGP Team in SailGP."

This talk will be inspirational to our juniors as well as our adult members who will hear about Hannah's journey from learning to sail in an Optimist to sailing for the GB team in SailGP, the international sailing competition that features high-performance F50 foiling catamarans.

The talk will begin at 18:30 hours so as to encourage our younger members to come along and there will be space at the front allocated for them (including bean bags!). The talk will last approximately one hour and this includes time for questions.

The talk will be followed by supper of lasagna, green salad, garlic bread and tiramisu - £15.95pp
