Time on the Time is aimed at those children that want to have fun on the water but are not ready or interested in the racing structure. These events are run by an Assistant Instructor under the responsibility of a Senior Instructor. This is not a training session but the AI may provide activities and sailing advice to participants. The focus will be on having fun on the water and is designed to be an informal event

Please ensure that you and your children attend the briefing on time and you read and agree to the T&Cs below. As this is not a training session every child must have a responsible adult on site at all times.

The AI running the event is a volunteer and will need help to make these events successful, please put your name forward as crew or shore parent when booking."

Only book one place per boat.


Terms and Conditions for Time on the Tide

Please note this is NOT training, it is a free session for Junior members lasting up to 2 hours, over the high tide. It is a session to allow your child to get practice on the water with a safety boat in attendance. Each Participant should have completed RYA Stage 2 and have some experience sailing independently on the harbour.

The Lead Safety Boat Cox will have completed an Assistant Instructor qualification and is responsible for the session, reporting to the Senior Instructor present at the club that day.

Emsworth Sailing Club:

  1. Will provide rescue facilities whilst the TOTT session is taking place.
  2. Reserves the right, always, to cancel bookings at its discretion.
  3. Accept your booking on the understanding that instructions or directions given by the parent volunteers, in charge of safety are observed.
  4. Reserves the right to remove from TOTT any child who does not comply with these conditions or who behaves inappropriately in any way or causes damage or annoyance to any other persons.
  5. Nor any of its employees or parent volunteers shall be liable in any way whatsoever in respect of loss or damage to personal property.
  6. Reserves the right to refuse any booking on medical grounds.
  7. Draws your attention to its insurance policy; section 8- Public Liability and its Safeguarding Policy which includes the "conditions of use of photography and video", both available on the website and in the outer office.

All Participants must:

  1. Have a responsible adult present during the whole session, both adult and child must attend briefing before going afloat.
  2. Wear clothing appropriate to the weather conditions.
  3. Wear a correctly fitted CE approved buoyancy aid continuously whilst afloat.
  4. Wear suitable closed toe footwear, light flat soled sailing shoes or trainers.
  5. Be confident in water and able to swim in the clothing mentioned above.
  6. If using their own boat ensure it is comprehensively insured, with third parties claims up to 2 million in addition to valid harbour dues.
  7. Ensure that the boat is seaworthy and that it is correctly rigged.
  8. Must have completed RYA Stage 2 and have had some experience sailing on the harbour.

Parents /Carers of Junior member agree:

  1. my child has no health problems which might affect his/her fitness to take part in TOTT and have completed the relevant medical questionnaire when booking the session.
  2. shall be present throughout the TOTT session and be able to decide if my child is capable of sailing in the conditions.
