RYA youth sail training for ESC members, will take place on the Millpond, in Optimists. Own boat (with short dagger board) and sailing kit required, Club hire boats available here on a first come first served basis. Sailors must be 7 years old or older.

RYA Stage 1:

Course Assumed knowledge - None

Course content - Launching and recovery, steering, parts of the boat, basic sailing

Ability after the course - Able to steer and understand basic principles

RYA Stage 2:

Course Assumed knowledge - Basic knowledge and steering ability to Stage 1 standard

Course content - Basic sailing skills, ropework, collision avoidance

Ability after the course - Able to tack and control boat speed, and understand basic principles
