Radio sailing

Emsworth Radio Sailing (or ERS for short) is a lively combination of Radio Sailors from both the Emsworth clubs, as well as enthusiasts from other clubs around the Harbour. All our sailing takes place on the Millpond at either the Bath Road car park or alongside ESSC. You will have spotted groups of dedicated sailors at both venues in all weathers!
The group includes older people as well as some much younger competent dinghy and cruiser sailors. We are proud to include past Olympic medallists and world champions as well as the occasional national champion in our fleets. We race two different classes: Dragon Flite 95 (DF95) and International One Metre (IOM). The DF95 is an ideal introduction to our sport and can be bought for around £350, while the IOM is more sophisticated and therefore more expensive. The Monday training programme aims to get you started, while the racing programme continues your progress throughout the year. The race programme is circulated to members of the group by email and through the Clubs' websites. Both classes race separately on different days. The programme varies between winter and summer, partly through pressure on use of the Millpond and partly to give at least two sailing opportunities each week.
ERS is a strong part of both Emsworth clubs as well as supporting the Model Yachting Association. We do not have any formal structure, rather a tradition of self-help and mutual support. Growing from small beginnings ten years ago, we are now among the largest groups in the UK
In the current COVID crisis ERS is fully compliant with the latest Government safety standards and we are able to function appropriately within the latest guidelines.
