We are very pleased to welcome Simon Radford, who will be coming along to speak at the Club about the work of the Chichester Harbour Federation. He is keen to engage with the boating community and to promote the Federation's activities within Chichester Harbour. The Harbour is recognised as the busiest for dinghy and keelboat racing in the UK. As well as representing all the 13 Harbour sailing clubs, the Federation now represents a total of 39 Organisations, including Harbour Associations, Boatyards, Marinas & Sailing Schools.
This year the Federation celebrates its centenary and also it is the 60th year of Chichester Harbour Race Week or as many people still refer to it Fed Week. Simon is part of the "Race Week" Committee, running the biggest dinghy regatta in the UK. Having been a member of the Federation Council since 2014, Simon joined the 'Chairman's Committee' in 2017. He took up the role of 'Youth Coordinator' having been principle of the RYA training Centre at Bosham Sailing Club. Simon became Chairman of the Federation in 2020.
The Federation is a stakeholder organisation to the Chichester Harbour Conservancy and Simon sits on the Advisory Committee (Stakeholder Committee), the Risk and Finance Committee and the board of the Conservancy itself.
Simon lives in Bosham and joined Bosham Sailing Club when he moved there with his wife and family. He has been very active in the running of BSC culminating in the role of Commodore. He is a keen sailor both in the Harbour and at international events.
