The 2025 season is quickly approaching and ESC members are in a great position to welcome it in sailing a 2000. For those who own a 2000 we have some great opportunities to race, with our continued challenge to beat the growing ESSC 2000 fleet in club races, plus we have secured Simon Horsfield again this year to provide off and on water coaching to hone your skills (save the date Sunday 18 May).
We also have the 2000 National Championships to be held at HISC between 17-22 August which will see circa 50 boats on the start line outside of the harbour with an Olympic course format. This will be an amazing opportunity to compete against beginners and former national champions in the same race! Click here for details.
For those who don't own a 2000, the Club has five 2000s which can be hired. Over the winter, I have renewed and standardised the rigging of the Club boats, so that all ropes are the same colour, they're all set up the same and with the same rig tensions, so these boats will have a similar performance range. The Club also has a set of racing sails that are bookable, available for outside events or key Club events.
The Club 2000s also continue to be available for social sailing, with a plan to have a 2000 cruise one day during the summer - details to follow - no rude comments about plenty of room for the sandwiches please!
As ever, I am available for questions about sailing the 2000, to health-check your boat, to provide help with re-rigging or even to help with potential purchases.
Since last season we have seen yet more sailors moving into this class from ESC and ESSC to enjoy its highly competitive yet safe handling characteristics and taking advantage of an improved handicap rating here in our . Don't miss the boat .. join the best fleet in the harbour!
