Environment - Platinum Success for Our Junior Regatta!
Published 13:07 on 23 Jul 2026
We are delighted to share the fantastic news that our Junior Regatta has been awarded Platinum accreditation through the Sailors for the Sea Clean Regattas programme the highest level of recognition for environmentally responsible sailing events.
What makes this achievement even more special is that when we first applied, we were advised that Bronze would be an excellent result for a first application. To have achieved Platinum at our first attempt is an outstanding achievement and reflects the commitment across the Club to improving the environmental sustainability of our events.
A huge thank you goes to our Environment Working Group, which brings together representatives from each of the Club's committees. Their enthusiasm, collaboration and determination has helped turn our environmental ambitions into practical actions, from planning and preparation through to delivery at the event.
We would also like to thank the members, volunteers, competitors, parents and supporters who embraced our environmental initiatives during the Junior Regatta in June 2026. Whether you brought a reusable water bottle, sorted your waste correctly, helped reduce single-use plastics, travelled sustainably or simply supported the changes we introduced, you all played a part in achieving this award. This recognition belongs to the whole Club and demonstrates what we can achieve when we work together.
Achieving Platinum is a milestone that we are incredibly proud of. More importantly, it reflects our shared commitment to protecting the waters and natural environment that make our sport possible. Thank you to everyone who helped make this achievement a reality. We look forward to building on this success and continuing to improve the environmental sustainability of our events in the years ahead.
