Car park new layout and improvement works

As part of our drive to better control the use of the limited resource that is our Members Car Park, in addition to the checking and control of parking permits we are shortly introducing some physical changes to the layout of the car park. These include new shingle-filled sleeper beds to better demark the physical extent of our private property and a series of both fixed and removeable bollards linked by chains that will allow us to effectively close all or some of the car park during quieter times of the day.

These measures will hopefully prevent some of the less welcome "recreational" uses of the car park by non-members who appear to be increasingly using our facilities for an evening causing general disturbance to our neighbours, and more importantly ensure that more spaces are available to our members during peak periods.

Weather and materials deliveries permitting, these works will commence on Tuesday 1 June and will be completed within the week. Please do bear this in mind when visiting the Club after the bank holiday weekend, as there may well be a new layout with immovable objects now in place at positions where you may have been used to turning in from Bath Road. We will of course be installing suitable reflectors on the outer edges of the fixed beds in order to draw attention to them after dark, but it may well take a few weeks for us all to get used to the new layout, so please exercise caution when approaching the car park for the first time. The front of most cars will inevitably come off worse in a collision with a bed of railway sleepers firmly fixed to the ground, sadly!
