Building works update
Hello from the VC bringing you an update on the accessible toilet and office building works. As our Commodore, Craig, noted in last week's newsletter, there is a small lag in the timeframe of the original works programme. At our weekly meeting on Monday, the working group agreed an opening contingency plan to ensure that the capacity of the clubhouse can be increased for the Easter weekend onwards, as our sailing season starts with the Fitting Out Supper, the RNLI Pursuit race, Tommy Hutton, Frostbite and the Easter Junior Championship. The Club will be busy! The clubhouse will be able to accommodate the normal capacity, and Ollie's kitchen and bar will be open serving the usual delicious food and drinks.
The clubhouse will be accessible from the front door, down the hall to the restaurant area and sunlounge. Access to the stairs, old office and downstairs toilets will be boarded off, as the builders will continue to work during the week. The Snug Bar, North Room, and Wet Bar will be accessible from the hallway and through the restaurant. Access from the gate and terrace will be the same as usual.
The bridge and Training Room will be accessible from the upper terrace. Toilets will be available in the men's and ladies' changing rooms, including the existing accessible toilet.
The upstairs ladies' loos will be closed until its refresh is completed after Easter.
We will keep you updated on progress and completion dates.
The anticipated delay is expected to be 3-4 weeks and is mainly due to additional work requested, which made sense to do whilst the clubhouse is disrupted. This has included updating the wiring and relocating it into the ceiling cavity, upgrading the water tank for extra heating efficiency, updating the door access, security and fire panels. Lester, Colin, Andrew, Marcus from Estates and Lexi from House, have been superb, bringing their professional expertise, support, problem-solving and keeping it all on track with their commitment and their time given, they epitomise volunteering.
A heartfelt thank you to Ollie, Eloise and their family (and the CCL team) for their patience during this work, disrupting family life and business. Thank you to Liz, Linzi, Ann for bringing a new meaning to flexible working and hot-desking.
Finally, a big thank you to all our members for your patience, whilst the building work continues, We will have top class new facilities soon!
