Annual General Meeting: review

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Sunday 5 November and was notable for many reasons. Not least it was the last General Meeting chaired by outgoing Commodore Jane Mellor after her three-year tenure leading the Club through some of the most challenging and historic times in its history. The turnout of over 90 members in the room, and more online, was no doubt entirely driven by the desire of the members to say thank you and give Jane a good send off, which I think we did.

The normal business of the AGM was to approve the minutes of the 2023 Financial General Meeting, approve the proposed membership subscription rates for 2024 and to appoint new Flag Officers and General Committee members. The results of the voting for each can be seen here after logging in to the members' area.

Welcome to all new General Committee members and Flag Officers. My fellow Flag Officers will introduce their respective new committee members in their section of the Weekly Roundup in the following weeks.

The AGM is also the time we announce our new Junior Captains and say farewell to the previous post holders.

I am delighted to be able to report that we have three new Junior Captains for the coming year: Isobella Palmer Ward, Conor Ledieurt and Ollie Williams. I am sure they will do a sterling job in helping out with all junior matters over the coming year.

On behalf of the Flag Officers and all our committees, I would like say a huge thank you to Henry Langford who has held the position of Junior Captain over the past year. I know he has contributed a huge amount to the work of the committees and helped deliver a fun year of activities.

Tim Keeping

Commodore
