2023 New Year's day walk report

To blow the cobwebs away, the annual NYD walk took place. Chris said "Twenty-five Club members and one dog set out for the annual New Year's Day walk, taking in a 3.5 mile route around Stansted Forest. Although a little muddy underfoot in places, the group were able to stay on the less sodden pathways around the forest in a circular route starting from the small car park on Broad Walk near the north entrance to the estate. The weather was kind to us, and although there was strong breeze, the rain held off and everyone enjoyed a friendly and relaxed two hours, before meeting back at the Club for a splendid Brunch created by Ollie and Tony. Starting off with a Buck's Fizz, we moved on to a full English of eggs and bacon, sausage, black pudding, tomatoes, baked beans, hash browns and mushrooms. If that wasn't enough, this was then followed by croissant, Danish Pastries, pain au chocolat, toast and marmalade. All in all, a great event to see in the New Year'. A huge thank you, as always, to Chris and Loraine Clode and Roger Bleasby for arranging the walk particularly with this year's soggy conditions!
