Powerboat Training
You can find out more information about the course and book here. It is a really useful course, teaching the boat handling skills needed by everyone out on the water plus it gives you a great qualification and opens up opportunities for duties here at the Club.
RYA Powerboat Level 2:
27 & 28 September
22 & 23 November
6 & 7 December
Race Coach Level 2 Course: 25 - 26 October, 09:00 - 17:00
Open to good club racers with personal knowledge of club and/or regional racing who are looking to coach and share their skills.
It is an intense 2 day course looking at the theory of coaching and applying it in a practical series of on the water exercises. By the end of the course you will be able to deliver and award RYA Start, Intermediate and Advanced Racing.
This course is booked directly with the RYA, and as an RYA Pathway Club they offer a discount for our members booking the course. The discount code is PATHWAY25.

RYA First Aid 11th October 2025
A one-day course covering all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages. This course is MCA approved and satisfies the requirements for Coastal Skipper Yachtmaster and Advanced Powerboat certificates of competence and some commercial work afloat and is also needed for RYA Instructors and Race Coaches. Adult sail training
Thank you to all those who have completed the questionnaire. I am now working through all your requests and will be in touch if there is anything we can offer in September and October. We will also use your feedback to develop some adult training in 2026.
Shore-based courses
Fancy teaching some RYA shore-based courses? ESC is hosting 3 separate sessions in October to help those who wish to become an RYA shore-based instructor.
Monday 13 October - 1-day training course in the classroom for those who do not have a teaching qualification.
Tuesday 14 October & Wednesday 15 October - 2-day course for those wishing to teach 'Navigation' up to 'Yachtmaster Offshore' level.
Thursday 16 October & Friday 17 October - 2-day course to become an RYA SRC/VHF Instructor and Assessor.
