Landing on Fowley Island - treat wildlife with respect!

This is a message from the Harbour Conservancy: Our breeding birds need our help and understanding!

Please avoid landing on or paddling close to islands and spits that support nesting birds, such as Fowley, Pilsey, Stakes and Ella Nore. There are nesting terns, waders and gulls in a number of places around the Harbour. They may have taken advantage of the reduction in human activity due to the current restrictions to nest in places we do not usually expect. Over the coming days and weeks they will be extremely susceptible to disturbance, having either eggs or very small chicks that need to be protected and kept warm.

The image is of a ringed plover on a nest and a clutch of ringed plover eggs.
