Club Catering

As mentioned in our earlier Report, ESC is taking part in the "Government's Eat Out To Help Out" scheme which runs until Monday the 31st of August. You'll be able to enjoy a 50% discount Monday to Wednesday up to a maximum of £10 per person.

Claiming your 50% discount is simple, you don't need a voucher code or to sign up to anything beforehand, simply pop in Monday to Wednesday to the ESC and order your food and drink. Your 50% will be taken off the food and non-alcoholic beverages on your bill up to the value of £10 per diner.

We always strive to go above and beyond the standards expected by our Members and our approach to our reopening preparations are no exception. We have undertaken individual risk assessments on each of our facilities to ensure that from the moment you arrive at the Club, you feel safe and are able to confidently enjoy the buzz and atmosphere of a first-class club experience.

"Creating restaurant quality food is no easy task. It takes a rare blend of skill and imagination, not to mention a desire for perfection. That's why we are so lucky to have Chefs Ollie and Tony in our Kitchen!

Guests in the Dining Room

On the 18th of August GC at their monthly meeting voted To allow guests into the Dining Room(not the terrace) as diners, subject to conforming to current Covid rules and in the company of a Club Member to meet the 'track & trace requirements. Please contact the ESC Bar if you have any queries

External Seating

Additional seating will shortly be available on the Terrace and the Upper Deck following the purchases of three 'Swedish Redwood 8-seater picnic tables' - each table comes with its own tilt 3 metre umbrella and stand.

The round 8-seater picnic benches are not only rustic and stylish but are excellent in providing suitable seating to enjoy a meal in the fresh air or for socialising with friends and family. These picnic benches are manufactured from truly sustainable timber that has been fully tanalised for strength and durability and this clever process prevents the timber from rotting. However, ever conscious of our maritime location and the salt laden and rainy atmosphere that our exterior furniture has to contend with, we will be applying some extra layers of preservative to extend their life.

Talks and Films

We are currently investigating showing films coupled to a pre-ordered supper in the Club House commencing in September 2020.

The provision of the ever popular 'Evening Talks and Supper' are proving more challenging to stage. Whilst governmental guidelines now permit actual talks to be staged, the speakers are less inclined put in appearance. Hopefully, this will change as we proceed into Autumn

We will continue to attempt to provide talks and films with the widest range of interest for all attending. To help us hit our target, we would welcome some feedback from all of our Members regarding what nature of films you would prefer and what subject areas of the talks would most hold your interest.

If you would like to assist, could you drop me a short Email detailing your choice. In addition, if you are content to allow the House Committee to continue to make their choice (as in the past) please let us know that also.

The 2020 August Bank Holiday

The Late August bank Holiday will shortly be hoving into sight. The Wet Bar and attendant catering services i.e. Ollie and his Team will be available throughout the three-day holiday. We will look forward to seeing you over the weekend and welcoming you to a pint and some food or snacks.

Just a short but important point from Uncle Cameron (AKA Mr Grumpy), The seating located around the terrace and upper deck are primarily for people purchasing food from the Wet Bar. So, we would be grateful if you didn't take freehold possession of the tables for the whole day. Most pubs and restaurants allow dining customers a 2-3 hour window for seating at outside venues.

Looking Ahead/Work in progress

Work by the whole of the HC continues on forthcoming late Summer Events such as Coffee Mornings, Ollie's special themed suppers, possibly a quiz night (12th September) and the Trafalgar Night (save the date: Saturday 24th of October). The formats will be subject to some change in this world of 'new normal' but we can still guarantee fun nights.

Your Safety

Your safety is at the forefront of every decision House Committee and the Club makes. This to ensure you have the confidence needed to be able to enjoy your drinks, food and whole Club experience. We've monitored things closely throughout lockdown and continue to do so to ensure that as the Club is re-opened, we will maintain our high safety standards into 2021.
