Winter Training Series - sign up now (particularly Feva and Optimist sailors)!

Published 06:15 on 4 Nov 2021
Saturday 20 November sees the start of the winter training for Optimists and Sunday 21 November for the Fevas, and it's not too late to book a place.
Please sign up now, as it is dependent on a minimum number of boats per class taking part.
In order to stimulate a greater uptake for the winter training and for those who are unable to commit to all the programmed dates, individual days are now available to book.
To recap, for the Tera, Laser/Aero, Optimist and Feva classes there will be ONE day of coached racing (generally) on a Sunday. Coached racing means that an experienced race coach will provide a brief for the sailors before the 2-3 races, highlighting the likely successful strategies for the day. During the race, the coach will provide input to the racers on the course as they go along, including those towards the back of the fleet. After the races, the coach will highlight the key lessons from each race, and provide feedback to each sailor. The total time commitment will be roughly 6 hours per day, and there will be approximately one coach per 6 boats.
The aim of these sessions is to build upon the skills learnt through this year and expand the juniors' knowledge and experience. The squads are aimed at those juniors who are keen racers who are at a minimum of RYA Level 3, with race experience in Club, open or junior race events. All sailors must be self-sufficient on the water, especially in the event of a capsize, and be equipped to cope with the weather conditions.

Hope to see you there! The ESC Training Team
