ESC Members' Arctic Trek Challenge February 2023

6 ESC members (Ian & Sian Taylor, Mike & Clare Jackson and Pippa & Alex Gawley) are shedding their 'scrubs' and home comforts to trek in the Arctic Circle in temperatures down to -30oC. We're part of a group of 17 locals, predominantly NHS workers, mainly from the operating theatres at QA Hospital, who are undertaking a 3 day, 75km trek, dragging all of our kit and our tents on pulks.
The challenge is in aid of the charity 'The Genie's Wish', a UK registered charity whose mission is to enhance the lives of people aged 0-40 years, living in England and Wales, who are suffering from a critical or terminal illness or living with a life-threatening medical condition. The charity's purpose is to bring respite and joy into the lives of their beneficiaries and their families, by providing them with a life-changing wish, experience or ongoing opportunity. We are training hard for the trek whilst also undertaking a range of fundraising events to meet our financial target. You may see us round and about dragging tyres in preparation! As a group we have pledged to raise at least £75,000.
