Dear Members

Following the Government's lifting of some of the lockdown restrictions, we are delighted to be starting a phased reopening of Emsworth Sailing Club. Please take careful note of the following;

GENERAL

1. From 1700 today the Club will be open for access to the water for permitted exercise in dinghies, cruisers, SUPs, windsurfers, kayaks, for access to moorings and for sea swimming

2. The car park, Mountbatten Dinghy Park (MDP), lower terrace, sail store and outboard store will be OPEN

3. The Clubhouse, bar, restaurant, upper terrace, swimming pool and changing rooms remain CLOSED

4. A limited takeaway service may be available - please check the website

5. The disabled toilet (adjoining the Ladies Changing Room) will be OPEN with access only from the terrace. This is the only toilet available and is NOT for changing clothes

6. Please travel in your sailing kit or be prepared to change discreetly in the MDP or car park

7. Club dinghies and SUPs will be NOT available for hire

8. Please bring your own antiviral gel/wipes and use them on any communal surfaces.

TRAVEL

1. Only 60 car parking spaces will be available until all cruisers have launched

2. Only drive to the Club if you have to - please walk or cycle if you are able

3. Members may need to move cones and tape to gain access or to leave to the car park - please replace

4. Only one car per household

5. No trailers to be left in the car park.

TERRACE & LAUNCHING

1. The terrace is open purely for access to kit and for launching (see 3 below)

2. All boats in the MDP must be launched from, and return to, the beach, and trollies returned to your billet whilst you sail

3. Terrace slipways are ONLY to be used for launching Club RIBS or for those dinghies not kept in the MDP

4. If launching from the terrace, please ensure that trollies are clearly named and are parked separately (not stacked)

5. Please be prepared to queue to launch, especially at busy times

6. Washdown facilities will not be available

7. Picnic benches will not be available.

SAILING

1. No organised racing or training at present

2. No rescue boats will be available

3. Single handers, or 2-handed dinghies with helm and crew from same household, can sail

4. Single handers might sail with a buddy dinghy for safety

5. Cruisers can do same-day sailing from home berth with crew from same household

6. Sailors make their own decision whether to sail, but the Club recommends adhering to an upper limit of 15 knots

7. The Club recommends that dinghies, SUPs, kayaks etc stay within sight of the Club at all times.

KEY POINTS

1. Please follow Government guidelines and respect 2m social distancing AT ALL TIMES

2. Do not come to ESC if you feel unwell

3. If you feel unwell whilst at ESC please go home immediately

4. Regularly use the hand sanitisers available at ESC

5. The Club will not be able to enforce the guidance above and so we rely on all members' judgement and courtesy to ensure that these guidelines work for all

6. It is members' responsibility to keep themselves safe, and they choose to come to ESC and get on the water at their own risk.

This is an evolving situation. We will continue to monitor all Government, RYA, Chichester Harbour Conservancy and other related announcements and keep you informed of any changes. BELOW is a link to the ESC Club Recovery Framework document that the Committees have prepared for the phased reopening of the Club

The Club encourages everyone to be considerate and conservative in their actions in and around the Club.

With best wishes

Your General Committee
