Harbour Oysters update

We have received a lovely thank you letter from Lottie and Poppy Johns of the Harbour Oysters project, which is currently pinned on the noticeboard at the Club, so please do have a read.

Harbour Oysters has had a very successful first season with around 30,000 oysters now installed in local waters, including 4000 at ESC. Lottie and Poppy thanked Simon Langford and Club volunteers who helped with basket making and oyster scrubbing during the recent working party.

We are delighted to hear that early monitoring at the ESC site has shown encouraging signs of oyster growth and site health. The oysters will continue to be monitored closely over the summer, particularly because the heat from the expected El NiƱo conditions may place additional heat stress on them.

Harbour Oysters is already planning to expand to additional sites next season while continuing to support the existing installations.
