Rain stayed away for the Hamble River Raid. Having seen a pretty dismal forecast the previous day, last Saturday turned out ok weather-wise - cloudy but not cold and not too much wind, which is ideal for rowing. We were competing against another 6 Celtic longboats, some with women-only crews and some mixed. It was a great race with outstanding stroke from Laurie who kept up a consistent 24/25 strokes per minute. We passed ESSC early on and took a couple of gigs on the return leg. Great coxing from Bill who kept us out of trouble on the busy Hamble. It was a very friendly enjoyable day. A huge thank you to Nige the Bosun who stepped in for Jonny (who had a call up for the Yoke - which we won!) and kindly towed the boat to Hamble and back.

Results below:

1. Langstone Cutters
2. Dell Quay SC
3. ESSC
4. CRAC
5. ESC
6. CYC
7. ESSC

We were the third fastest all female crew.

This weekend Escapade and crew are entered into the Cockleshell Challenge which is 7.2 nautical miles long and will take us approx 1 hour 45 min, so fingers crossed for nice weather, not much wind and a lot of stamina!
