Last week the Club assisted the Final Straw Foundation to attach some microplastic samples to a buoy in the harbour. These samples are there to form part of a study with Portsmouth University to analyse what grows on the film that covers microplastic in our seas.

This parcel of microplastics has been planted in an area that swimmers, paddleboarders and sailors frequent so that we can see any potential chemicals and pathogens that people may be exposed to whilst out in the water.

The parcel is attached to one of our buoys and will be removed on Tuesday 26 July. Every trace of the microplastics will be removed so please rest assured we have not contributed to plastics in our seas! If anyone finds this parcel when out and about, please do not tamper with it and please ensure it is submerged in the water at all times.

Thank you to Emsworth Sailing Club as always for putting environmental factors at the forefront of Club life.
