New Years Day Walk and Brunch

Over forty members and no less than four dogs enjoyed an excellent three and a half mile walk around Stansted Park on New Year's Day. Organisers Chris & Lorraine Clode had warned participants that the going was likely to be muddy and it most certainly was! From the very start we were wading through thick, glutinous mud, but to everyone's credit they all pushed on and, despite a few tumbles, completed the course.
It was a thoroughly friendly and social occasion and with a wide range of ages, from teenagers to the eighty-year-olds, but everyone chatted, laughed and smiled their way through the often gloopy conditions underfoot, sustained by the traditional offer of sweets from the generous Bowns family.
Finishing at Stansted just after midday, we all headed for the Club where Ollie and his staff had prepared a massive brunch with a wide variety of fare, from smoked salmon and croissants to sausages, fried eggs and black pudding, and much more.
A thoroughly enjoyable walk rounded off with a wholesome brunch.
Thanks to all that took part and next year, let's hope it's less muddy!
