Sailing duties - update

Many thanks to all of you that have already volunteered for sailing programme duties in 2022: almost 50% of the season and a number of April race duties are now covered.

We still have a number of duties to cover the Aldora Vase on Sunday 17 April (a good option if you prefer to cover races within the closer confines of the harbour), and also Tommy Hutton 2 on Monday 18 April. So if you are available and yet to select your duties, please do so now.

We had a recent query relating to volunteering beyond the age of 70, the response to which is that we are very happy for you to continue to volunteer for any duties after 70 if you feel able and happy to do so. Read more.

It is not the case that 'the rules do not allow this to happen'. The only difference after age 70 is that ESC does not oblige folk to take on duties; it is purely voluntary. Your Volunteer Duty Roster Team will not be chasing anyone over 70 to take on any duties, but we will of course gratefully accept anyone over 70 that still continue to nominate themselves when they consider themselves to be fit and able to do so.

We are looking forward to reporting at the end of February that we have a full roster with every voluntary duty covered!
