Longterm ESC member James Lavery is no stranger to challenges, having taken part in ocean and offshore yacht races for 35+ years.
In April 2025 James and two friends set off to cycle from New York to Seattle, in an adventure which was to take 55 days. He will be talking about the motivation behind the ride, their preparation, some of the adventures along the way and his impressions of the country having spent 55 days cycling through small-town America.
Followed by supper of coq au vin served with garlic and rosemary mash and seasonal vegetables, then chocolate fondant and vanilla ice cream.

We know that this will be a popular talk and, with the restricted numbers allowed at the Club for the next few months, we wanted to give everyone a chance to listen to it, so James has very kindly agreed to give the talk on two consecutive Thursdays so that no one misses out.
