The House Round Up 13th July 2020

The club house and bar last weekend were much more productive in a number of areas.

The use of the wet bar ensured faster through-put of customers, whilst still maintaining social distancing. A warm and sunny Friday brought in good numbers of members with the 'deck' providing an ideal venue to enjoy 'Ollie's Fish and Chips'. Again, Saturday's benign weather plus a 1600hrs high water, meant the club remained open from 1200hrs to 2100hrs drawing in higher numbers of Members. For me as RC(H) it gives me great pleasure to see our members returning to the club, meeting friends and enjoying the joie de vie of summer evenings by the water.

However, a note of caution: at the risk of being seen as "Mr Grumpy", it is incumbent on me to remind you to observe the social distancing rules. We do not have an ESC team to berate you if you fall foul of the current rules. It is the responsibility of us all to maintain the correct social distances.

Until further notice please do NOT invite visitors to the club as it makes track and trace procedures more difficult.

In uncertain times, it's always good to find some familiarity, some warming company and a friendly welcome. Ollie and his team pride themselves on their personal service, within a comforting and relaxed atmosphere. I am therefore delighted to let you know of the proposed timetable for the opening of the dining room, and informing you of other changes.

1) From Saturday the 18th July we will be reverting back to normal cutlery and actual 'glasses from which to quaff your pint or G & T's. To allay any concerns, I am reliably informed that the coronavirus abhors any encounters with industrial dishwashers.

2) We intend to commence evening meals (1900hrs 2100hrs) in the dining room in early August. We will update the website with opening days and times.

3) Lunches have always been a popular event at the Club. Recognising this we will then be looking to commence lunch meals with effect from mid-August. Again, watch the weekly newsletter roundup for more information, dates and times.

4) We will be actively encouraging you to book in advance, as this allows us to guarantee you a table and deliver a safe and enjoyable experience. We will, of course, be taking walk-ins whenever possible but with space at a premium, it's best to book. We will have a member of Clift's Catering's team at the door who will take contact details, be able to direct you towards your table and explain any special procedures in place. FOR THE TIME BEING, ALL RESTAURANT BOOKINGS MUST BE MADE BY PHONE TO THE BAR AND NOT VIA THE WEBSITE.

We are planning on enhancing our already rigorous cleaning regimes which will be taken up another level, with all hard surface being sanitised between sittings, single-use menus or the use of menu boards and a fanatical commitment to hand washing by all team members.

Can I remind you all about the about Ollies takeaway service and the club opening times. Please look out on the website and club facebook for updates to opening times and menus

Both the House Committee and the Clift's Catering staff can't wait to open the Club House doors to all our members. Our aim is to make your visit as safe, comfortable and enjoyable as possible. As we've said all along, we will be ready, waiting and excited to welcome you all back.
