RYA and Yachts & Yachting Club of the Year Award - results

As you will know, ESC was a finalist in the "RYA and Yachts & Yachting Club of the Year" competition and I was therefore very privileged to attend the awards ceremony on Saturday 27 February. Ordinarily this takes place at Alexandra Palace, but this year, of course, it was a virtual event. The 10 finalists had all been sent questions in advance and submitted replies to the organisers, so we knew that we would be asked one of those questions. It was very nerve-wracking being held in a virtual waiting room and told to be ready to go live at any moment!

More than 4,600 votes were cast and although ESC didn't win - the very worthy winner was Port Dinorwic SC in Wales - it was great that we were one of the finalists and that we received that recognition at the end of the very challenging year that was 2020.

We are, of course, the very proud winners of the 2020 sustainability award, recognising the very hard work that members, the catering team, the office and the Environment Working Group have, and continue to, put in to protect our environment and look after our harbour.
